Introduction

Fish oil though not a vitamin has come to be commonly known as fish oil vitamins. Its a nutritional supplement. Omega-3 fatty acids  found in fish oil vitamins are essential fatty acids that must be supplied in the diet. They are part of the fat in food that is consumed from a balanced diet.

Throughout life, the omega-3 fatty acids are important to support health and likely to reduce risk of chronic disease. The biological and physiological effects of dietary lipids on human health remain a primary focus of nutrition research as recommendations for daily intake are continually updated in response to new information obtained through epidemiological, clinical, and animal investigations

Fish oil vitamins as essential it is, they are not being being used as prevelantly as they are supposed to be. It is one of the most essential dietary element. It can be supplemented directly by consuming fish containing fish oil or other processed supplementations. Fish oil vitamins consists of omega 3 fatty acids which again can be broken into finer components such as DHA (Docosahexaeonic acid) and EPA (Episapentaeonic acid).

Omega 3 fatty acid helps in producing neurotransmitter, reducing inflammation caused by degenerative diseases such as heart disease, diabetics, alzheimers, arthrities etc. And it helps in developing brain cells, smooth movement s of joints, better digestions and so on.

Fish oil can be obtained from two parts of the fish: the flesh and the liver. The fish oil extracted from the flesh has a high concentration of EPA and DHA, the two most esseential omega-3 fatty acids. The fish oil from the liver also has this, but it also has a high content of Vitamins A and D.

Due to the highly unsaturated nature of fish oil it quicky gets oxidized. And causes the fish oil to be rancid. Taking the rancid fish oil will causes various ill effects starting with fishy after taste, body odor etc. However scientist have discoverd a way to overcome this problem and preserve it. Adding vitamin E such as tocopherol will prevent the fish oil from geting rancid as well as well as prevent the degeneration of the properties of omega 3 fatty acids.

While choosing the best fish oil vitamins few things must be kept in mind.

1. One must be careful not to choose products with refortified additives. For eg. there have been instance where companies have added synthetic vitamins such a vitamin A and D. This products should be avoided and preference shoud be given to products with high content of EPA & DHA.

2. Buy product from big brand because they have high y systematic process and reduces the risk of  toxin in the product. However, in cheap or non recognizable brands chances of contamination and toxin are highly probable
